Inspired by this ideal of service to mankind, the monks and devotees of Ramakrishna Vedanta Mission have been relentlessly serving thou stands of men, women and children irrespective of caste, creed & religion because they see the living God in them.

The Ramakrishna Vedanta Mission places utmost importance on personal spiritual development and selfless service. The driving force behind all activities has been, humbly following the footsteps of Swami Vivekananda, who lived his entire life in establishing universalism and harmony and the realization of Eternal Truth, which has been the essence of India’s spiritual philosophy known as Vedanta. In his words, “the essence of Vedanta is that there is one Being and that every soul is that Being in full, not a part of that Being”. Vedanta doesn’t stand for one comprehensive or unifying doctrine, rather it is an umbrella term for many sub- traditions. Vedanta remained as the dominant philosophy of India’s religious legacy from ancient Vedic period to the present age. The thoughts and teachings of Vedanta has been consolidated, vitalized and made lucid by Sri Ramkrishna, the spiritual master of Swami Vivekananda, and was expounded in the modern idiom by Swami Vivekananda and made available to all humans without any discrimination of cast, creed or race.

The Mission was initially started to support orphans in the surrounding area of Ashuti, as children without any support and upbringing were succumbing to wrong ways. Till date 325 residents of Mission has left the Mission and now living normal life as others. They regularly take part and contribute in the social initiative of the Mission. The Mission is more like a foster father & mother to these fallen’ children. Its ultimate motto is to give those children a hope for living a normal life. Apart from Orphanage and a free school (Ramakrishna Vedanta Mission Vidyamandir, Student strength 545, Affiliation WBBSE, Preschool to class X) the Mission is also involved in various socio-economic activities for the benefit of the socially distressed people.
